Description
These Hina dolls are decorative ornaments displayed for Hinamatsuri, celebrated on March 3rd. Hinamatsuri is a traditional Japanese festival that prays for the healthy growth and happiness of girls. Hina dolls are believed to bring good fortune to the household and protect children from evil spirits.
The dolls represent members of the imperial court, starting with the Emperor and Empress. This glass ornament set includes two pieces: the Odairi-sama (Emperor) and the Ohina-sama (Empress).
In Kyoto, it is customary to place the Emperor (with the black hat) on the right and the Empress (with the pink hair accessories) on the left when viewed from the front. However, in most regions of Japan, they are displayed the opposite way—the Emperor on the left and the Empress on the right.
This elegant pair of glass Hina dolls makes a special and meaningful gift to celebrate a girl’s growth. Gift wrapping is available for this item.
